Being an LGBTQ+ only group it was completely different to anything I had experienced before. There was no need to hold back, to explain, to qualify anything I said. No caveats, no toning down, no worry about shocking or even disgusting anyone, all of which I had felt was the case rightly or wrongly at other times. As LGBTQ+ people we have spent a lifetime doing that, checking ourselves. Being in an LGBTQ+ group with shared experiences, suffering the same grief from losing a partner, a friend, a sibling or any loved one and not having to check myself and what I say, was a revelation for me.
